History and Understanding Mikrotik

History Mikrotik :
MikroTik is a small company headquartered in Latvia, which was formed by John Trully and Arnis Riekstins.
In 1996 John and Arnis get started with Linux and MS DOS system technology combined with Wireless LAN (W-LAN) AERONET speed of 2Mbps in Moldova. Afterwards then serve five customers in Latvia, because their ambition is to create a software router reliable and distributed throughout the world.
The basic principle MikroTik not make a Wireless ISP (WISP), but it makes the program a router that is reliable and can run around the world. Until now, MikroTik has been serving customers in nearly every country in the world.

Linux they use first is the Kernel 2.2 which was developed jointly with the aid of 5-15 people R & D staff who now dominate the world mikrotik routing in developing countries.
In addition to the staff at Mikrotik environment, according to Arnis, they also recruit freelance workers and third parties are intensively developing in a sustainable Mikrotik.

Understanding Mikrotik :
MikroTik RouterOS is an operating system that is intended as a network router. RouterOS itself is the operating system and software that can be used to make ordinary computer into a reliable network router, and includes a variety of features that are created for IP networks and wireless networks. These features include: Firewall & Nat, Routing, Hotspot, Point to Point Tunneling Protocol, DNS server, DHCP server, Hotspot, and many other features.

RouterOS is a Linux operating system base designated as a network router. Designed to suit all users. Administration can be done through the Windows Application (WinBox). Besides the installation can be done on the Standard PC (Personal Computer). PC which will be used as a proxy router also does not require resource large enough to use standard, for example, only as a gateway. For the purposes of a large load (network complex, complicated routing) are advised to consider the election of PC resources are adequate.
